 In the field of metallurgical casting, there are many kinds of metallurgical resistant materials, each of which has an irreplaceable role. Today, we will introduce one of the resistant materials, silicon barium inoculant.

Barium silicon is an alloy composed of silicon and barium, used in steelmaking as deoxidizer, desulfurizer and foundry inoculant.


0-0.25mm: for intratype inoculation (inoculation is accurate and more efficient)

0.2-1mm: used for inoculation with current (inoculation amount is more accurate)

1-3mm, 3-8mm for inoculation in the bag (inoculation time must be controlled at more than 70% of the time of iron production)

8-15mm for inoculation in the furnace.

The common uses of barium silicon are:

1, used for ductile iron, gray cast iron.Si-barium inoculant can promote graphitization, reduce the tendency of white mouth, improve the morphology and distribution of graphite, increase the number of eutectic groups, refine the matrix structure. It has a good effect in a short time (about 5-8 minutes) after inoculation.It is mainly applicable to the general contingency or the late instantaneous inoculation of various situations.


2. Silicon-barium inoculant is mainly used in the inoculation of ductile iron and gray cast iron.Si-barium inoculant strongly increases graphitization core, refines graphite, promotes the obtaining of A-type graphite in gray cast iron, improves the strength, for ductile iron can make the graphite in ductile iron fine, round, and improve the grade of spheroidization.Strong recession-resistant capability, while preventing the associated spherification recession.The sensitivity of wall thickness is small and the tissue is uniform.Significantly reduce the white tendency, reduce the relative hardness, improve the machining performance of casting.Used as inoculant and spheroidizer in the cast iron industry.
