DESCRIPTION:
Ferrochrome is an iron alloy composed of chromium and iron. It is an important alloying additive for steelmaking. According to different carbon content, ferrochrome can be divided into high-carbon ferrochrome (4-8% carbon content), medium-carbon ferrochrome (0.5-4% carbon content), low-carbon ferrochrome (0.15-0.50% carbon content), Micro-carbon ferrochrome (carbon content is 0.06%), ultra-micro-carbon ferrochrome (carbon content is less than 0.03%), and silicon-chromium alloy, ferrochromium nitride, etc.
APPLICATION OF Ferro Chrome:
High carbon ferrochrome:
1. Used as an alloying agent for ball steel, tool steel and high-speed steel with high carbon content to improve the hardenability of steel, increase the wear resistance and hardness of steel.
2. Used as an additive of cast iron to improve the wear resistance and hardness of cast iron, and at the same time make cast iron have good heat resistance.
3. Used as chromium-containing raw material for producing silicon-chromium alloy and medium, low and micro-carbon ferrochrome by slag-free method.
4. Used as chromium-containing raw material for the production of metal chromium by electrolysis.
5. Used as raw material for smelting stainless steel by oxygen blowing method.
Medium and Low Carbon FerroChrome:
Medium and low carbon ferrochrome is used to produce medium and low carbon structural steel, chromium steel, and alloy structural steel. Chromium steel is often used in the manufacture of gears, gear shafts, etc. Chromium-manganese silicon steel is often used in the manufacture of high-pressure fan blades, valve plates, etc.
Micro-Carbon FerroChrome:
Chromium is mainly used to improve the oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance of steel, so that a layer of highly adherent oxide film is formed on the surface of steel in an oxidizing atmosphere, and the oxidation stops or the oxidation speed slows down. Micro-carbon ferrochrome is mainly used in the production of stainless steel, acid-resistant steel and heat-resistant steel.
The smelting methods of micro-carbon ferrochrome include electric silicothermal method, heat exchange method and so on.
